Frequently Asked Questions

Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure used to promote collagen and elastin production. It addresses different skin issues, including acne scars, stretch marks, uneven skin texture, and wrinkles.

It is common to notice swelling and soreness immediately after the procedure. However, this shouldn't prevent you from carrying on your regular daily routine.

Topical anesthesia cream is used prior to treatment to help reduce discomfort.

Results can sometimes be seen as early as one week after treatment. They will continue to improve over time as your body produces more collagen. Depending on the skin concern being treated will vary when results are achieved.

Results are permanent. To maintain optimal results, we recommend incorporating a medical-grade skincare regimen and using SPF 30+ daily into your routine.

We recommend obtaining clearance from your OB/GYN before receiving treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Pre and Post Care Guidelines

  • Book your appointment at least 2 weeks prior to any event/vacation. Redness, bruising, and peeling may be present during that time.
  • Avoid Accutane for at least 6 months.
  • Discontinue Retinol 24-48 hours prior to procedure to reduce sensitivity.
  • Recommend discontinuing use of NSAIDs (Motrin, ibuprofen), aspirin, ginkgo biloba, garlic, ginseng, St. John's Wort, flax oil, cod liver oil, vitamin A, vitamin E, or any other essential fatty acids at least 3 days to 1 week before and after treatment to minimize bruising or bleeding. Consult with your primary physician before discontinuing these medications.
  • Avoid alcohol and cigarettes 24 to 48 hours prior to your treatment. These may increase the risk of bruising and bleeding.
  • If you have a history of cold sores, your healthcare provider may prescribe an antiviral medication to help manage your condition.
  • Starting Arnica supplements 2-4 days prior to injection appointments can help with bruising.
  • You cannot have an active rash or infection in the treatment area.
  • Avoid IPL/BBL laser procedures and waxing for 7 days preceding treatment.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you must obtain clearance from your OB/GYN prior to treatment.
  • Redness and sensitivity may occur and persist for 3 to 4 days after treatment.
  • Peeling may start 3-5 days after treatment.
  • Use Tylenol as needed for discomfort.
  • Avoid activities that cause facial flushing for 48 hours after treatment, including consuming alcohol, exercising, hot tubs, and saunas.
  • Avoid picking the treatment area(s).
  • Avoid tanning or prolonged direct exposure to sunlight.
  • Take extra caution to ensure you are protected from sun exposure immediately after the procedure. It is essential to use SPF 30 or higher after treatment.
  • Do not use skin exfoliants or scrubs, acids, or retinoids for 10-14 days post-treatment.
  • Recommend changing to a clean pillowcase the night of treatment.
  • Make sure to keep items that come into contact with your face clean, such as your cellphone and glasses.

Day 1: The day after your treatment, you may gently clean your face with a cleanser and apply Epionce Renewal Calming Cream with SPF 30+. Be sure to avoid makeup, exfoliants, glycolic acid, lactic acid, salicylic acid, and other irritating products, as they can cause your skin to become very dry after the procedure.

Day 2-3: Within two days of the procedure, you will notice skin dryness and flaking. This is due to the increased turnover of skin cells. During this period, gently cleanse the treatment area with a mild cleanser and apply Epionce Renewal Calming Cream and SPF 30+. After the first 24 hours post-treatment, you can apply makeup.

Day 4-7+: On Day 4, you can resume your regular skin care routine. A week after microneedling treatment, most patients see that their skin is smoother and more radiant.

The post-procedure skincare kit can be discontinued once the skin is no longer dry, tight, and feels completely healed.
